Heather Stants is a lifelong artist and dancer with a degree inphotography and fine arts. Her explorations in tribal bellydance beganover eleven years ago when she became the assistant director of ReadMy Hips* (www.readmyhips.com) in Chicago, Illinois. In 1999 Heathermoved to San Diego, California and formed Urban Tribal Dance Company.

Heather's diverse movement and arts background feeds her creativityand her innovative approach to choreography. Urban Tribal DanceCompany is known for it's contemporary approach to the dance, a pareddown costume emphasizing body movements over ornamentation,athleticism and the use of the dance form as a means of personalexpression and interpretation. Their creativity has twice earned themthe title of "Troupe of the Year" in Zaghareet! Magazine's GoldenBelly Awards. In addition to teaching several weekly classes in SanDiego since 1999, Heather Stants and Urban Tribal Dance Company havebeen touring extensively since 2004 sharing their love of moderntribal bellydance with dancers in the U.S. and abroad. Urban TribalDance Company is widely recognized as one of the top tribal fusionpioneers.
